Appleton West football scores in final minute to defeat Green Bay Preble

APPLETON – Appleton West quarterback Conner Navis threw a 6-yard touchdown pass to Chase Verboomen with 47 seconds to go and then ran in the game-winning two-point conversion to give the Terrors a thrilling 36-35 homecoming win Friday night at West High School.
Navis led a mad comeback in the second half as the Terrors trailed 35-20 before scoring twice in the final eight minutes to pull out the victory. West is now 3-3 overall and 2-2 in the Fox River Classic Conference North Division.
Navis finished with 389 yards passing and five touchdowns, three to Parrion Peace and another to Bennett Nelson. Peace ended up with eight catches for 183 yards and Chase Verboomen had six grabs for 75 yards for the Terrors.
Appleton West hosts Pulaski on Friday, Oct. 4, at 7 p.m.
