Appleton West football drops season opener at Manitowoc

MANITOWOC – Manitowoc raced out to a four-touchdown lead and defeated Appleton West 29-6 in a nonconference football game to open the 2023 season Friday night at Manitowoc High School.

Kenton Beasley scored a pair of rushing touchdowns and Gavin Letternberger returned an interception 54 yards for a touchdown to put Manitowoc up 20-0 at halftime.

A safety and another Beasley score put the Ships up 29-0 before Appleton West scored late.

An interception to set up a 23-yard pass from Connor Navis to Thomas Schueppert for the Terrors’ only score.

Appleton West will host Appleton East for a nonconference contest next Friday, Aug. 25, at 7 p.m.
