Appleton West boys soccer holds off Fond du Lac for first FVA win since 2022

APPLETON – The Appleton West boys soccer team picked up its first Fox Valley Association victory in nearly two years as it defeated Fond du Lac 2-1 on Thursday night at the Nienhaus Sports Complex.
The Terrors had not won a conference game since Oct. 4, 2022, when they defeated Neenah 3-2. West was 0-8-1 in the FVA last season, and had lost and tied in their two games prior in 2024.
Kivi Itecha scored in the first half and Lomona Ilunga netted the game-winner in the second half for Appleton West, which is now 3-3-1 overall and 1-1-1 in the FVA.
The lone goal for Fond du Lac (3-1-1, 1-1-1 FVA) was by Jayden Pollock in the first half.
Keyson Lehrer finished with nine saves in goal for the Terrors.
Appleton West is back in action Tuesday at Appleton East.
