Appleton West boys basketball hammers Wautoma in season-opener

WAUTOMA – The Appleton West boys basketball team showed no rust in kicking off its 2024-25 season, putting up 43 points in the first half en route to a 79-44 win over Wautoma in a nonconference game Tuesday night at Wautoma High School.

The Terrors ran out to a 43-25 lead by halftime and kept pouring it on, outscoring Wautoma (0-2) by 17 in the second half.

Lucas Downs scored 26 points to lead four Terrors in double figures. Parrion Peace added 13 points, Reid Hinkens 12 and Chrishawn Salley 10 in the win.

Appleton West opens its Fox Valley Association season Friday at home against Oshkosh West. Game time is 7:30 p.m.
