Appleton West boys basketball come from behind to beat Green Bay Southwest for first win of season

APPLETON – Thomas Schueppert had a season-high 17 points as the Appleton West boys basketball team earned its first victory of the season, defeating Green Bay Southwest 51-46 in a nonconference game Saturday at West High School.
The Terrors trailed 22-17 at halftime before storming back with a 10-point advantage in the second half to earn the win and snap their 18-game losing streak.
“Guys had to step into big shoes with the graduating of seven seniors last year and they’ve consistently shown improvement,” Appleton West coach Gage Moede said. “Thomas, a senior, stepped up in the biggest way possible, and scored his career high and helped us notch a win. Our players are high integrity and committed to each other.”
Parrion Peace added 14 points for the Terrors.
Curtis Denforth had 17 points to lead Green Bay Southwest (1-17).
Appleton West hosts Hortonville on Tuesday at 7:30 p.m.
