OSHKOSH – Appleton West scored six times in the sixth inning to pull past Oshkosh North 8-2 in a Fox Valley Association baseball game Friday at E.J. Schneider Field.
The game was tied at 2-2 before the Terrors took advantage of a number of Oshkosh North miscues to forge ahead.
A walk with the bases loaded and an error led to two runs, a hit batter forced in another run and Loren Georger singled home two to put Appleton West on top 8-2, which held the rest of the way as Georger tossed two shutout innings in relief of starter Michael Gwiazdon.
Gwiazdon struck out three and allowed four hits in five strong innings for the Terrors, who are now 5-8 overall and even their FVA record at 5-5.
Appleton West will play a nonconference doubleheader at Medford on Saturday starting at 11 a.m.
