Appleton West baseball grabs FVA win over Hortonville

APPLETON – Appleton West scored four times in the first inning and rode the arms of three pitchers from there to defeat Hortonville 5-2 in a Fox Valley Association baseball game Saturday at the Nienhaus Sports Complex.

Dimitry Edmonds had an RBI single, Dexter Gerard followed with a run-scoring double, and two runs scored on an error to give the Terrors a quick 4-0 lead.

Loren Georger allowed two runs over 5 2/3 innings with eight strikeouts to earn the win, Alex Hammond finished off the sixth and Dominic Ruzzicone tossed a scoreless ninth with two strikeouts to grab the save for the Terrors (6-11, 6-7 FVA).

Carter Aldrich finished with two RBI, and Ryder Hoffman continued his hot hitting with two hits and a run scored for Appleton West.

Hortonville falls to 8-9 overall and 7-6 in the FVA.

Appleton West hosts Fox Valley Association leader Kimberly on Monday at 5 p.m. at the Nienhaus Sports Complex.
