KIMBERLY – The Appleton West baseball team had undefeated Kimberly on the ropes, but a three-run sixth inning pushed the Papermakers to a 6-5 win in Fox Valley Association action Friday at Sunset Park.
Appleton West led 4-1 after scoring three times in the third inning, which included an RBI single by Dimitry Edmunds.
Brady Koester hit a two-run homer in the third to bring the Papermakers to within a run at 4-3 before the three-run fifth put them ahead.
Another Edmunds’ RBI single brought the Terrors (2-5, 2-4 FVA) within a run with the bases loaded, but a groundout ended the threat and gave Kimberly (5-0 FVA) its seventh-straight win in as many games this spring.
Edmunds finished 3-for-4 and Ryder Hoffman added two hits for the Terrors. Starting pitcher Loren Georger finished with 11 strikeouts and five innings of work for West.
Appleton West is back in action Tuesday against Appleton North. The game at Nienhaus Sports Complex begins at 5 p.m.
