Appleton United holds off Wausau to win WIAA boys lacrosse regional final

APPLETON – The Appleton United boys lacrosse team is moving on to sectionals after an 11-8 win over the Wausau Wild in a WIAA regional final Thursday night at Appleton East High School.
Colin Mancl had a stellar game in goal and Ryder Hill led the United offense with four goals on their way to victory.
The fourth-seed Appleton (13-4) will play at No. 1 seed Neenah (12-5) in a sectional semifinal Saturday at 4 p.m. The winner moves into a sectional final on Tuesday at Neenah.
Landon Larson and Jaylen Kempfer each had two goals, and Hans Ridlehoover, Anton Downs and Elliot Olm each added a goal for Appleton.
Wausau finishes its season with a 14-6 record, which included three losses to Appleton.
