Appleton United boys hockey loses nonconference road game at Homestead

MEQUON – Mequon Homestead scored three times in the second period to power past Appleton United 4-1 in a nonconference boys hockey game at the Ozaukee Ice Center on Friday night.
After a scoreless first period, Homestead (3-3) scored in the opening minute of the second period and tacked on two more goals to take a 3-1 lead.
Appleton’s Henry Heathman netted the team’s only goal, off assists from Tyler Bishop and Jack Kangas, as the United fall to 3-4 this season.
Brandon Tobak finished with 42 saves in goal for Appleton.
Appleton will play rival Fox Cities Stars in a Badgerland Conference game Tuesday at the Tri-County Ice Arena in Neenah at 8 p.m.
