Appleton United boys hockey drops WIAA regional semifinal at Beaver Dam

BEAVER DAM – Beaver Dam scored three times in the second period to break open a scoreless game and went on to defeat Appleton United 5-1 in a WIAA Division 1 boys hockey regional semifinal Tuesday at the Beaver Dam Family Center.
No. 5 seed Beaver Dam (19-6) added two goals in the third period to finish off the win and advance to a regional final at No. 4 Fond du Lac on Thursday.
James Lewis scored Appleton’s only goal late in the third period. Brandon Toback had 42 saves in goal for the United, which finishes the season with a 1-20 record.
