Appleton United boys hockey drops Badgerland Conference opener at Fond du Lac

FOND DU LAC – Appleton scored first before Fond du Lac poured on five unanswered goals and won 5-2 in the Badgerland Conference boys hockey opener for both teams on Tuesday night at BlueLine Ice Arena.
Landon Larson scored off an assist from James Lewis 6:55 into the game to give the Appleton United a 1-0 lead, but Fond du Lac ripped off five-straight goals to seize control.
Blake Spies scored twice and had an assist, and Drake Deanovich added a goal and two assists for the Cardinals (1-2, 1-0 Badgerland).
Appleton’s final goal came in the last minute of the game as Lewis scored on an assist from Larson.
Appleton (0-2, 0-1 Badgerland) returns to action next Tuesday, Dec. 5, at home against Oshkosh.
