Appleton Post 38 Legion baseball rolls past Kaukauna to open home tournament

APPLETON – The Appleton Post 38 Legion baseball team scored multiple runs in each of the first four innings and cruised to a 10-4 win over Kaukauna in its opening game of the Appleton Post 38 Round Robin Tournament on Friday at Don Hawkins Field.
Alex Ramus, Ryan Tesch and Ethan Wick each drove in two runs as eight hitters in Post 38’s lineup had at least one hit.
Leadoff hitter Nick Bergin scored three runs and Brandon Schopf had two of Appleton’s nine hits in the victory as Post 38 improves to 7-8.
Logan Hudson picked up the pitching win for Post 38, striking out six in a complete-game effort.
Post 38’s home tournament will continue Saturday as the Appleton Double Days play Kaukauna at noon, Post 38 against Wisconsin Rapids at 2:30 p.m. Kaukauna and Rapids will play at 5 p.m., with the two Appleton squads facing each other at 8 p.m.
