Appleton Post 38 Legion baseball cruises past Fond du Lac to pick up first win of season

FOND DU LAC – Three Appleton Post 38 pitchers combined on a two-hitter and defeated Fond du Lac 6-1 on Tuesday, earning its first victory of the season.

Brandon Schopf had a three-run double in the second inning to help Appleton build an early 4-0 lead.

Alex Ramus had an RBI double and scored on an error in the seventh to finish off the scoring for Appleton.

Michael Gwiazdon three five shutout innings with two strikeouts to earn the victory, and Ramus and Parker Bleck finished off the two-hitter with an inning each.

Appleton will travel to Wheaton, Ill., for a three-day tournament starting Friday. Post 38 will take on Barrington Post 158 at 1:15 p.m. and Luddington (Mich.) Post 76 at 5:45 p.m. on Friday.
