Appleton North’s Stoffel, Arndt advance to finals at WIAA State Individual Wrestling Tournament

MADISON – Appleton North seniors Brock Arndt and Jake Stoffel will be wrestling for state titles on Saturday night after both won Division 1 semifinals on Friday at the 2024 WIAA State Individual Wrestling Tournament at the Kohl Center.
Stoffel moved to 41-0 this season as he held off Johnny Botsch (32-5) of Brookfield East in a 175-pound semifinal. He will be going for his second-straight state title Saturday night against Benjamin Ott (56-3) of Glendale Nicolet.
Arndt (30-1) overpowered Grant Stromberg (53-6) of Mukwonago to win his 285-pound semifinal 9-3 to advance to a state final matchup with Cole Mirasola (50-1) of West Bend West. Mirasola is seeking his third-straight state title (195 in 2022, 285 last year).
Appleton North’s Blake Miller was eliminated in the consolation bracket at 215 pounds. Miller pinned McCoy Smith of Waunakee in 1:00 in his first consolation match Friday before losing to Jaden Johnson of Milwaukee King by pin in 2:17. Miller finishes the season with an 11-4 record.
Championship bouts at the Kohl Center start at 5:30 p.m. Saturday.
