Appleton North’s LeMire nails down state berth at WIAA Division 1 girls golf sectional

HOBART – Appleton North senior Taylor LeMire is heading to the state meet after finishing fifth at a WIAA Division 1 girls golf sectional on Tuesday at Thornberry Creek Golf Course.

The top two teams – Bay Port and Kaukauna – along with the top three individuals not on those qualifying teams, move on to the 2024 WIAA State Girls Golf Tournament, which will be held Oct. 14-15 at University Ridge Golf Course in Madison.

LeMire had three 3s on her card and shot an 80 to tie for fifth and grab the final individual state tournament berth.

Talia Schlindwein of Wausau East/West won medalist honors and the sectional title with a 77, one shot in front of Green Bay Preble’s Emma Cunningham as the two earned the other two individual spots at state.

Bay Port finished with a team score of 335 and Kaukauna had a 348 to take the two team state tournament slots.

Appleton North finished in tie for fourth with Hortonville with a 367 and Appleton West was seventh with a 402.

Appleton East’s Jaelyn Feller, who qualified for the sectional as an individual, placed ninth with an 86.

Appleton West’s Lydia Barry and Appleton North’s Emily Brokl finished in a three-way tie for 15th with 91s, Kendall Lindemann added a 95 for North. North’s Bella Bauman, West’s Anna Blair and Fox Valley Lutheran’s lone sectional qualifier, C.J. Woosley, all ended in a tie for 35th with 101s.
