Appleton North’s LeMire, Brokl tie for first at Heart of the Valley Metro Girls Golf Tournament

SHERWOOD – Appleton North’s Taylor LeMire and Emily Brokl tied for first place at the Heart of the Valley Metro Girls Golf Championship on Monday at High Cliff Golf Course.
The tournament, which included 18 teams from 14 different schools, paired two players on a team playing a scramble format on the front nine and a best-ball on the back nine.
LeMire and Brokl tied with Kaukauna’s McKenna Lowe and Charlie Clinefelter with an even-par 72 for first place among the 50 teams competing.
Kendall Lindemann and Finley Chipman shot a 93 for the Lightning, who tied Kaukauna-2 and Shawano for third with a 165. Kaukauna-1 won the team title witha 147, with Kimberly-1 second with a 164.
Jaelyn Feller and Alex Simon of Appleton East finished in a three-way tie for third with a 75 as the Patriots took sixth in the team standings. Addison Baier and Kahlie Munter added a 96 for the Patriots.
Appleton West finished seventh with a score of 173 between its top two teams. Lydia Barry and Anna Blair led the Terrors with an 83 as they finished in a three-way tie for eighth place.
Xavier tied for 12th with a 190 as the team of Vanden Heuvel and Sarah Rettler shot an 89.
The Fox Valley Association dual meet season begins Tuesday with Appleton East hosting Fond du Lac at Ried Golf Course and Appleton West playing at home against Oshkosh North at Winagamie Golf Course. Appleton North will be back in action Monday, Aug. 26, at home against Kimberly at Butte des Morts Country Club.
Xavier continues a busy week with the second Bay Conference Mini Meet of the season at Vernon Hills Golf Course in Peshtigo on Tuesday. Oconto is the host school.
