Appleton North’s Demetrician named Player of the Year, one of six Lightning players named to 2023 All-Fox Valley Association Girls Volleyball Team

Appleton North had three first-team selections, including Player of the Year Ela Demetrician, named to the 2023 Fox Valley Association All-Conference Girls Volleyball Team, as voted on by the 10 conference coaches following the season.
Demetrician, a senior outside hitter and a University of Michigan recruit, finished with 553 kills this season to lead Appleton North to an undefeated FVA championship and a WIAA state tournament appearance.
Senior setter Emerson Van Lannen and junior outside hitter Teegan Charapata were also among the first-team picks from Appleton North.
Van Lannen, the Lightning’s setter and a Kansas State recruit, ended the season with 892 assists in 40 matches as she surpassed 2,000 assists in her career at the state tournament, where North lost in the Division 1 semifinals.
Charapata ended the season with 277 kills.
Joining them on the first team were Marin Grossman of Hortonville, Mackenna Shultis and Victoria Petrinski of Fond du Lac, Madison Tripp of Kaukauna and Sydney Nelson of Oshkosh West.
Appleton East sophomore outside hitter Zoe Wockenfuss, and Appleton North senior middle blocker Tylee Jones, senior libero Maggie Hahnke and junior hitter Kayden Lamon were among the honorable mention selections.
Appleton West did not have any players named to the all-FVA team.
Steve Scheuerell of Appleton North was chosen as the FVA Coach of the Year.
