Appleton North wrestling splits two matches at FVA Double Duals

FOND DU LAC – The Appleton North wrestling team split a pair of matches at the Fox Valley Association Double Duals on Thursday at Fond du Lac High School.

Appleton North lost to Oshkosh West 45-28 and defeated Appleton East 70-12 to move its FVA season record to 3-4.

Jake Stoffel (190 pounds), Brock Arndt (285), Tomas Thao (126), Jackson Esser (120) and Braden Lewis (138) all won both of their matches for the Lightning. Stoffel, Arndt and Lewis both had two pins, and Thao had a 19-4 technical fall victory over Oshkosh West and a pin against East.

Esser had a pin at 120 for North in the loss to Oshkosh West, and Jayden Rasmussen (106), Jacob Quella (132) and Tyson Salm (150) all had pins for the Lightning against Appleton East.

East’s two wins against Appleton North came from pins by Cian Braun at 165 and Luke Pokwinski at 215.

Appleton East (1-6 FVA) lost its other dual to Neenah, 79-0. Results were not provided.

Appleton North will compete at the Freedom Invitational and Appleton East will travel back to Fond du Lac for the Cardinals’ Invitational on Saturday.
