APPLETON – Alyssa Wald doubled home a run in the bottom of the seventh inning to give the Appleton North softball team a walk-off 3-2 win over Oshkosh North in a Fox Valley Association game Tuesday at Appleton North High School.
The Lightning trailed 2-0 until tying the game in the sixth on an RBI double by Callie Weber and a sacrifice fly from Claire Therkildsen.
In the seventh, Brianna Gehrman and Charlotte Radtke started the inning with singles, an error loaded the bases, and with two outs, Wald connected on the hit to plate the game-winner.
Radtke earned the pitching win for the Lightning (2-5, 1-3 FVA), striking out a career-high 13 without a walk in a complete-game effort.
Appleton North will play at Hortonville on Thursday.
