Appleton North softball loses home game to unbeaten Kimberly

APPLETON – Kimberly had three separate three-run innings and went on to defeat Appleton North 10-3 in Fox Valley Association softball action Thursday at Appleton North High School.

The Papermakers (3-0 overall and FVA) finished with 11 hits and scored three times in the third, fifth and sixth innings to pull away.

Wald had an RBI single in the third inning, and Paton Willenkamp smacked a run-scoring double and scored on a groundout in the fourth for North’s only scoring.

Ella Nissen suffered the loss for the Lightning as she finished with three strikeouts in a complete game on the mound.

Appleton North will play a nonconference game at Green Bay West on Friday. The game, at Colburn Park, starts at 4:30 p.m.
