Appleton North softball cruises past Appleton West to pick up first FVA win

APPLETON – All hands were on deck for the Appleton North softball team on Friday in a Fox Valley Association battle at Appleton West.

All nine North starters had at least one hit, one run scored and one RBI as the Lightning cruised to a 25-3 win at Nienhaus Sports Complex.

Claire Therkildsen picked up the pitching win with five strikeouts in three innings, and also unloaded a double and a home run while driving in four for the Lightning (2-6, 1-5 FVA).

Tatum Beggs had a home run and five RBI, and Callie Weber smacked a home run and added four runs scored and four RBI for North.

West (0-5 overall and FVA) was held to two hits, with Addison Edmunds, Ali Raddatz and Emma Curtin all driving in runs.

Both teams will be at home Monday in FVA games as West hosts Oshkosh North and Appleton North will play Fond du Lac.
