Appleton North girls volleyball sweeps Kimberly as two seniors eclipse career milestones

APPLETON – Two Appleton North seniors reached huge career milestones as the Lightning swept Kimberly 3-0 in a Fox Valley Association girls volleyball match Thursday night at North High School.

Ella Demetrician recorded her 1,000th kill and setter Emerson Van Lannen had her 1,500th assist in their stellar North volleyball careers as the Lightning rolled 25-16, 25-5, 25-10.

“What a great night for our team,” North coach Steve Scheurell said. “We executed really well and got the win.”

Demetrician finished with 19 kills, nine digs and three blocks, and Van Lannen had 27 assists, nine digs and three blocks for North (5-0 FVA).

Taylee Jones added six kills and three blocks, Teegan Charapata had five kills and three aces, and Maggie Hahnke had four service aces and five digs for the Lightning.

North will play at the West Bend East Invitational on Friday and Saturday.
