Appleton North girls volleyball sweeps Hortonville to open FVA schedule

HORTONVILLE – The Appleton North girls volleyball team opened its Fox Valley Association schedule Thursday night with a 3-0 sweep of Hortonville.

The Lightning won 25-15, 25-19, 25-8, to improve to 11-1 overall this fall.

Ella Demetrician had 19 kills, eight digs and three service aces, and Emerson Van Lannen had 34 assists, four kills and five digs to lead the way for North.

Teegan Charapata added seven kills and seven digs, Maggie Hahnke had six digs, and Taylee Jones and Shayna Williamson each had four kills as well for the Lightning.

“Great win for us to start our conference schedule,” Appleton North coach Steve Scheuerell said. “Hortonville has many weapons and I was very happy to see our team play composed and execute at such a high level.”

Appleton North returns to action next Thursday, Sept. 7, at home against Appleton West. Game time is 7 p.m.
