Appleton North girls volleyball sweeps Appleton West

APPLETON – The Appleton North girls volleyball team improved to 2-0 in the Fox Valley Association with a three-set sweep of Appleton West on Thursday night at North High School.

The Lightning won 25-10, 25-4, 25-17, to remain unbeaten in the young FVA season. West is now 0-2.

“Appleton West is a scrappy and well-coached team,” Appleton North coach Steve Scheuerell said. “I was proud of how our entire team came out and played with intensity and confidence.”

Setter Emerson Van Lannen had 21 assists and added a team-high seven service aces, Ella Demetrician had 12 kills and two blocks, and Teegan Charapata had seven kills for the Lightning.

Maggie Hahnke chipped in four aces and Lydia Koshuta had five assists as well for Appleton North.

Appleton West statistics were not provided.

Appleton West will host a tournament on Saturday beginning at 8:30 a.m., while Appleton North returns to action Tuesday at Oshkosh West.
