Appleton North girls volleyball slams Hortonville in first FVA match

APPLETON – The Appleton North girls volleyball team began defense of last year’s Fox Valley Association championship with a 3-0 sweep of Hortonville in its conference opener Thursday night at North High School.

The Lightning rolled to a 25-20, 25-17, 25-22 win, improve to 7-4 overall this fall.

Teegan Charapata had 18 kills, Lydia Koshuta finished with 22 assists, and Chloe North had eight digs to lead the Lightning in each category.

Kayden Lamon added 12 kills, Hannah Moua chipped in 15 assists, and Ellis Brinkman had three service aces as well for Appleton North.

“I am proud of how our girls played and responded tonight against a scrappy Hortonville team,” Appleton North coach Steve Scheuerell said. “We played great defense and found ways to win.”

Appleton North is back at home Tuesday against Fond du Lac.
