Appleton North girls volleyball finishes second at DSHA Invite

MILWAUKEE – The Appleton North girls volleyball team won three of four matches to finish second at the Divine Savior Holy Angels Invitational on Saturday.
Appleton North swept Kettle Moraine Lutheran 25-18, 25-20, and Hartland Arrowhead 25-22, 25-22, in pool play, before taking down Manitowoc 25-23, 25-16, in the semifinals.
The Lightning lost the championship match to the host school DSHA 25-13, 25-13.
Ella Demetrician had 42 kills and 26 digs, Teegan Charapata added 31 kills and 29 digs, Emerson Van Lannen had 75 assists, and Maggie Hahnke had a team-best 31 digs and 11 service aces for Appleton North.
Lydia Koshuta added 24 digs, Tylee Jones had six kills and three blocks, Kayden Lamon had six kills, five blocks and nine digs, and Lainey Frisch had four aces as well for North.
“Great tournament to finish our nonconference schedule,” Appleton North coach Steve Scheuerell said. “We really played well and found some things we can improve.”
The Lightning will look to wrap up an undefeated Fox Valley Association championship at home against Neenah on Thursday at 7 p.m. in their final regular-season match of the season.
