Appleton North girls basketball pulls past Oshkosh West

APPLETON – The Appleton North girls basketball team used a second-half surge to pull past Oshkosh West 59-50 in a Fox Valley Association game Friday night at North High School.

The game was tied at 24-24 at halftime before the Lightning outscored Oshkosh West by nine in the second half to earn their second-straight win.

Avery Werfal had a season-high 24 points, Shayna Williamson added 14 and Tay Maass 12 in the win for Appleton North (9-9, 7-5 FVA). Combined with Appleton East’s loss at Oshkosh North on Friday, the Lightning pulls into a three-way tie with East and Oshkosh West for fourth place in the conference standings.

Paige Seckar had 17 points for Oshkosh West (11-7, 7-5 FVA).

Appleton North hosts Oshkosh North in an FVA game Tuesday starting at 7:30 p.m.
