Appleton North girls basketball powers past Fond du Lac

FOND DU LAC – Avery Werfal and Shayna Williamson each made three 3-pointers as the Appleton North girls basketball team went on the road and defeated Fond du Lac 51-38 in a Fox Valley Association matchup Friday night.

Werfal finished with 18 points and six rebounds, Williamson had nine points and nine rebounds, and Tay Maass had nine points and eight rebounds in the win for North, which is evens its record at 11-11 overall and moves to 9-7 in the FVA.

Brooklynn Butler had 14 points and 11 rebounds for Fond du Lac (6-17, 3-14 FVA).

Appleton North will wrap up its regular-season and FVA schedule with a pair of road games at Kaukauna on Tuesday and Appleton East next Friday.

Pairings for the WIAA playoffs, which begin on Feb. 20, will be announced on Sunday.
