Appleton North girls basketball opens season with big win over Stevens Point

APPLETON – The Appleton North girls basketball team opened its 2023-24 season with a 72-50 nonconference win over Stevens Point on Thursday night at North High School.

Kate Vanden Berg, Avery Werfal and Tay Maass each scored 14 points for the Lightning.

Maass added a team-high nine rebounds, Werfal had six assists and eight rebounds, and Vanden Berg had five rebounds and five assists for Appleton North.

Adaleah Nest had 22 points and five rebounds, and Jada Seubert had 14 points and five rebounds for Stevens Point.

The Lightning play another nonconference game at De Pere on Tuesday.
