Appleton North girls basketball loses road game at No. 2-ranked Hortonville

HORTONVILLE – The Appleton North girls basketball team saw its losing skid reach four as it fell to Hortonville 71-56 in a Fox Valley Association game Thursday night at Hortonville High School.
Appleton North, which just played No. 1-ranked Neenah, continued its tough stretch in its early-season schedule against the No. 2-ranked Polar Bears.
Hortonville pulled out to a nine-point lead at halftime and were able to hold its advantage the rest of the way.
Rainey Welson scored 20 points and MiKayla Werner added 17 for the Polar Bears (2-1, 2-0 FVA).
Delaney Peterson scored 17 points, and Tay Maass added 12 points and seven rebounds for Appleton North (1-4, 0-2 FVA).
Appleton North returns to action Tuesday at home for a nonconference game against West De Pere.
