Appleton North girls basketball handles Appleton West at home

APPLETON – The Appleton North girls basketball team opened up a 21-point lead by halftime and rolled to a 64-24 win over Appleton West in a Fox Valley Association matchup Friday at North High School.
The Lightning led 38-17 at halftime and held Appleton West to just seven points in the second half to win going away, and end their three-game losing skid.
Avery Werfal finished with 21 points and Tay Maass added 18 for Appleton North (4-3, 1-2 Fox Valley Association).
Allysen Buss led West (1-5, 0-4 FVA) with 16 points.
Both teams are back in action Tuesday with FVA contests, Appleton North will host Oshkosh West, while Appleton West will play at Kimberly. Both games start at 7:30 p.m.
