APPLETON – The Appleton North girls basketball team dropped its second game in a row to a state-ranked team, losing in its regular-season home finale to No. 6 Neenah 61-46 in a Fox Valley Association game Monday at North High School.
Neenah pulled out to a 35-23 lead by halftime and were able to hold off the Lightning the rest of the way, improving to 18-3 overall and 13-2 in the FVA.
Allie Ziebell scored 25 points, made six 3-pointers and grabbed nine rebounds to lead the Rockets.
North held Neenah to just 35 percent shooting (21-for-59), but 21 turnovers from the Lightning proved to be too much to overcome.
Avery Werfal had 14 points and Tay Maass scored 10 for Appleton North (10-11, 8-7 FVA).
Appleton North will finish the season with three-straight road games starting Friday at Fond du Lac.
