Appleton North girls basketball defeats Appleton West, snaps six-game losing skid

APPLETON – The Appleton North girls basketball team jumped out to a commanding lead in the first half and went on to defeat crosstown rival Appleton West 63-30 in a Fox Valley Association contest Tuesday night at Appleton West High School.

The Lightning grabbed a 39-14 advantage going into halftime and were able to finish off the 33-point win to snap a six-game losing streak.

Tay Maass had 21 points and Avery Werfal finished with 19 for the Lightning (6-10, 3-9 FVA).

Allysen Buss topped the Terrors (1-15, 0-12 FVA) with 16 points.

Both teams will play again Friday as Appleton West hosts first-place and undefeated Kimberly, and Appleton North travels to Oshkosh West in FVA action. Both games begin at 7:30 p.m.
