Appleton North football uses big first half to cruise past Appleton East

APPLETON – Appleton North busted open a tight game with four second-quarter touchdowns and went on to defeat Appleton East 42-18 in a Fox Valley Association football game Friday night at Pickett Field at East High School.
The win ends a two-game losing streak for Appleton North and clinches a WIAA postseason berth as the Lightning improves to 6-2 overall and 4-2 in the FVA. Appelton East drops to 2-6 and 1-5 in conference play.
Kyreese White scored on a 17-yard touchdown run for Appleton East, but the Patriots missed the extra point and led 6-0.
North responded with six unanswered touchdowns to take control. Jack Robinson ran in from the 7 later in the first quarter and Ethan Nadboralski’s extra point put the Lightning on top 7-6.
North scored four times in the second quarter as Christian Price ran an interception back 50 yards, Robinson had a 9-yard TD run, and quarterback Luke Kritzer had scoring runs of 1 and 3 yards to make it 35-6 by halftime.
Kritzer ripped off an 85-yard run in the third quarter to finish the scoring for the Lightning, who finished with 193 rushing yards.
Appleton East scored twice late as Jacob Weisbach threw a 47-yard touchdown pass to Cameron Scott and Anthony Burdett ran in from the 19.
North will host Kimberly and Appleton East will travel to Kaukauna for the final regular season games next Friday. Kaukauna defeated Kimberly 14-13 on Friday to forge a tie for first place between the two teams for the FVA lead.
