Appleton North football grinds out road win over Oshkosh West

OSHKOSH – The Appleton North football team won its third-straight game, charging to a 2-0 record in the Fox Valley Association, with a 24-7 win over Oshkosh West on Friday night at Titan Stadium.
Charlie Olson tossed touchdown pass of 19 yards to Bobby Salm in the first quarter and the 7-0 lead held through halftime.
Grant Hardy entered at quarterback in the second half and hooked up with Michael Guido for a 63-yard TD strike, and Mason Skorstad kicked a 23-yard field goal in the third as the Lightning (3-1 overall) extended their lead to 17-0.
After Oshkosh West crept closer with a touchdown early in the fourth, Grant Hardy scampered 28 yards for a touchdown to seal the win for North.
The Lightning finished with 168 yards rushing as four different players shared carries and all accumulated between 38 and 48 yards in the victory.
Appleton North will be on the road again next Friday, Sept. 20, with an FVA game at Hortonville at 7 p.m.
