Appleton North football dominates Green Bay Preble

APPLETON – The Appleton North football team picked up where it left off after last week’s season-opening win, as it dominated the first half and rolled to a 42-6 nonconference win over Green Bay Preble on Thursday night at Paul Engen Field at Appleton North High School.

The Lightning scored four first-half touchdowns and cruised to their second-straight win to start the 2023 season, outgaining Preble (0-2) by nearly a 2-to-1 margin, 362-168.

North quarterback Luke Kritzer tossed touchdown passes of 19 yards to Abraham Tomori and 17 yards to Caden Prince, and ran for a 7-yard score as the Lightning jumped out to a 21-0 lead.

Bobby Salm added a 5-yard touchdown run before halftime, and Jack Robinson had a pair of touchdown runs in the second half for the Lightning.

Kritzer finished 10-for-15 for 120 yards passing and added 52 yards rushing, while Robinson topped North on the ground with 93 yards on 13 carries.

Appleton North opens its Fox Valley Association schedule at Fond du Lac next Thursday, Aug. 31.
