Appleton North boys volleyball upends Fond du Lac/North Fond du Lac in WIAA sectional semifinal

FOND DU LAC – The Appleton North boys volleyball team prevailed in a tight match, upsetting Fond du Lac/North Fond du Lac 3-1 in a WIAA sectional semifinal Tuesday night at Fond du Lac High School.
The third-seeded Lightning (21-10) won 25-18, 23-25, 31-29, 23-25, to advance to a sectional final against No. 1 seed Kimberly on Saturday at Appleton North High School at 7 p.m. Kimberly (38-6) defeated Neenah 3-1 on Tuesday.
Kimberly swept a Fox Valley Association match over the Lightning 3-0 back on Sept. 17, and also knocked Appleton North out of the playoffs a year ago with a 3-2 win in the sectional finals.
Nathan Ramus had 31 kills, Owen Tierney added 10 kills, and Charlie Fanning and Sam Kuehl each had five kills in the victory for Appleton North.
