Appleton North boys volleyball tops Kimberly in FVA dual

APPLETON – Three days after suffering a loss to Kimberly at the Fox Valley Association Tournament, the Appleton North boys volleyball team returned the favor in a FVA dual on Tuesday night, sweeping the Papermakers 3-0 in the battle of top-five state-ranked squads.
The Lightning won 25-21, 25-22, 25-19, in the match at North High School, improving to 2-0 in FVA play.
Setter Connor Cantrell had 27 assists and five kills, and five other North players had at least four kills in the victory. Ben Brinkman led the way with nine kills and added three service aces, Nathan Ramus had seven kills, Jaden Ciriacks chipped in six, Jackson Keesling had five and Grant Hardy four for the third-ranked Lightning.
Alex Ramus had a team-high nine digs for North.
Michael Janssen and Brady Koester each had seven kills for No. 5-ranked Kimberly.
Appleton North will have a week off before playing another FVA match at Appleton East on Tuesday, Sept. 19.
