Appleton North boys volleyball opens WIAA playoffs with sweep of Appleton West

APPLETON – The Appleton North boys volleyball team opened the WIAA playoffs with a three-set sweep of Appleton West in a regional final matchup Friday at North High School.

The No. 1 seed Lightning won 25-19, 25-18, 25-16, to advance to a sectional semifinal on Tuesday at home against No. 4 Kaukauna. Kaukauna defeated Notre Dame/Bay Port 3-0 in its playoff opener.

Nathan Ramus and Jadon Ciriacks each had 10 kills, Connor Cantrell had 36 assists, and Jackson Keesling added nine kills for Appleton North.

Ben Brinkman chipped in five kills and Grant Hardy had four in the win for the Lightning.
