Appleton North boys soccer wins WIAA playoff opener over Stevens Point

APPLETON – Appleton North scored three times in the first half and held on the rest of the way to defeat Stevens Point 3-1 in a WIAA Division 1 boys soccer regional semifinal Thursday night at Appleton North High School.

Langston Moran scored in the sixth minute. Ben Gresenz added another goal in the 25th minute and Colin Wranosky scored eight minutes later for the Lightning. Caden VandeHey assisted on the final goal for North.

No. 3 seed Appleton North (7-4-2) will play a Division 1 regional final at No. 2 seed Green Bay Preble (14-2-3) on Saturday. Preble shut out Kaukauna 3-0 on Tuesday.
