Appleton North boys basketball tips Bay Port in overtime, grabs 10th win of season

APPLETON – The Appleton North boys basketball team rebounded from its first loss of the season with a hard-fought 63-58 overtime win over Bay Port in a nonconference game Thursday at North High School.
Bay Port came back from a six-point halftime deficit to force overtime, but the Lightning overcame the late rally from the Pirates and outscored them 15-10 in the extra four-minute period to earn the win and improve to 10-1 this season.
Nathan Ramus made six 3-pointers and scored a game-high 24 points for Appleton North. Will Sweeney, Ben Zdzieblowski and Abraham Tomari each added 10 points in the victory.
Blake Buchinger led Bay Port (3-7) with 20 points.
Appleton North is back in action Tuesday at home against Appleton East as part of a girls-boys doubleheader. The girls game begins at 6 p.m., with the boys game to follow at approximately 7:45 p.m.
