Appleton North boys basketball surges past Hortonville to improve to 2-0

HORTONVILLE – The Appleton North boys basketball team used a strong second-half surge to push past Hortonville and win its Fox Valley Association opener 79-66 on Thursday night at Hortonville High School.
The game was tied 32-32 at halftime before North put up 47 points in the second half to pull away.
Grant Hardy scored all 13 of his points in the second-half run for the Lightning, who improve to 2-0 overall.
Will Sweeney had a team-high 17 points, including 10 in the second half, Nate Ramus added 15 points and Ben Zdzieblowski 14 in the victory for North.
Appleton North finished 21-for-28 at the free throw line and nailed 10 3-pointers.
Riley Mueller scored 18 points to lead Hortonville (1-1, 0-1 FVA).
Appleton North will enjoy a week off before taking on Appleton West at home next Friday, Dec. 8, as part of a boys-girls doubleheader. The boys game begins at 6 p.m., with the girls game to follow at approximately 7:30 p.m.
