Appleton North boys basketball pulls past fourth-ranked Eau Claire Memorial

MEQUON – All five starters scored in double figures and actually accounted for all of Appleton North’s points in a 70-59 victory over Eau Claire Memorial on Friday at the Rick Majerus Wisconsin Basketball Yearbook Shootout at Concordia University.

Freshman Matt Rosplochowski scored a team-high 19 points for the Lightning, who have won four games in a row and are now 6-2 this season after taking down Memorial (5-2), the fourth-ranked team in the latest Wissports.net Division 1 state poll.

Abraham Tomori made all eight of his free throw attempts and scored 14 points, Grant Hardy also chipped in 14 points, Ben Zdzieblowski added 12 and Nathan Ramus 11 for Appleton North, which was playing without starting point guard Will Sweeney.

Memorial made 12 3-pointers, five each from Wesley Mboga (25 points) and Cooper Jesperson (19 points).

Appleton North will be back in action Friday, Jan. 3, at home against Kimberly.
