Appleton North boys basketball outlasts Oshkosh West to remain undefeated

APPLETON – Appleton North opened up a double-digit lead in the second half and held off Oshkosh West 78-68 in a Fox Valley Association boys basketball game Tuesday night at North High School.
Will Sweeney scored 16 points in the first half as North took a 35-32 lead, but he wasn’t done there as he scored 14 more in the second half as the Lightning built on their advantage and improve to 4-0 overall and 3-0 in the FVA.
Sweeney made six of North’s 11 3-pointers and had a game-high 30 points. Abraham Tomori added 19 points and Nate Ramus 10 in the win.
Oshkosh West (1-4, 1-2 FVA) also had 11 3-pointers, four from Drew Blair, who led the Wildcats with 25 points.
Appleton North’s win sets up a big early-season game on Friday as the Lightning hosts Oshkosh North (3-0 overall and FVA) in a battle of the final two undefeated Fox Valley Association teams. Game time is 7:30 p.m. Oshkosh North is ranked No. 3 in this week’s Wissports.net Division 1 state coaches poll.
