Appleton North boys basketball grabs road win at cross-town rival Appleton East

APPLETON – Appleton North pulled out to a double-digit lead by halftime and maintain a healthy advantage the rest of the way as it knocked off cross-town rival Appleton East 65-49 in a Fox Valley Association boys basketball game Tuesday night at Appleton East High School.
The Lightning held East’s top scorer, Cade Prestigiacomo, scoreless in the first half and Nathan Ramus scored 12 of his 14 points in the opening half as they grabbed a 35-23 lead.
Prestigiacomo got going in the second half, scoring all 15 of his points that led East (5-8, 3-5 Fox Valley Association), but Grant Hardy countered for Appleton North, scoring 14 of his game-high 17 after halftime.
Abraham Tomori chipped in 13 points and Will Sweeney added 11 for the Lightning (9-3, 6-2 FVA).
Appleton North will host Neenah on Friday at 7:30 p.m. as the two are among four teams, along with Hortonville and Kaukauna, tied for second place in the FVA at 6-2 behind 7-1 Fond du Lac. Fond du Lac hosts Kaukauna in another huge conference contest Friday.
