Appleton North baseball shuts out Oshkosh West

APPLETON – The Appleton North baseball team extended its winning streak to 11 with an 8-0 shutout of Oshkosh West in a Fox Valley Association game Wednesday at North High School.
Matthew Hietpas struck out nine and allowed just one hit over six shutout innings and Eli Vezina tossed a three-up, three-down seventh to finish off the victory for the Lightning (13-2, 11-1 FVA).
Appleton North scored on errors in the second and third innings, Levi Watts added an RBI single in the third and William Hoerner knocked in a run with a single a three-run fourth as the Lightning pulled away.
Watts added another RBI single the sixth as he, Hoerner and Hietpas all finished with two hits.
Appleton North plays at Kimberly on Thursday at Sunset Park in a big FVA game starting at 4:30 p.m. The winner will have sole control of the conference lead with two weeks to go in the regular season.
