Appleton North baseball nails down road win at Appleton East

APPLETON – Appleton North scored six times in the third inning and held on from there, downing Appleton East 7-2 in a Fox Valley Association baseball game Tuesday at East High School.
Matthew Hietpas struck out nine in five shutout innings to earn the win for the Lightning, who are now 10-2 overall and remain tied with Kimberly for first place in the FVA at 8-1.
Alex Ramus had an RBI single, William Hoerner smacked a run-scoring double and Brandon Schopf hit a three-run home run in the six-run third inning for Appleton North.
Appleton East (3-9, 2-7 FVA) scored both of its runs on a two-RBI triple by Jackson Bines-Sabrowsky with two outs in the bottom of the seventh.
Both teams are back in action Thursday as East will host Fond du Lac and North travels to Kaukauna.
