APPLETON – Brandon Schopf knocked in William Hoerner with the game-winning run as the Appleton North baseball team won its seventh-straight game, edging Escanaba (Mich.) 11-10 in a nonconference game Saturday afternoon at North High School.

In the bottom of the frame, Hoerner walked with one out, Matthew Hietpas was hit by a pitch and Schopf delivered a single to score Hoerner with the winning run.

Schopf, Levi Watts and Nick Bergin all had three hits for Appleton North (9-2), which had 16 in all. Alex Ramus and Watts both had two doubles, with Ramus driving in four in the victory.

Appleton North will return to Fox Valley Association action Tuesday at Appleton East. The Lightning are tied with Kimberly for the conference lead at 7-1.
