Appleton East’s Neubauer among first-team picks to 2023-24 All-Fox Valley Association Girls Basketball Team

Appleton East junior Torie Neubauer was one of the eight players chosen to the first team of the 2023-24 All-Fox Valley Association Girls Basketball Team, as voted on by the 10 conference coaches following the season.

Neubauer, who also was chosen the FVA’s All-Defensive Team, averaged 13.4 points, 7.5 rebounds and 1.7 steals per game for Appleton East this season.

Neenah senior Allie Ziebell, a University of Connecticut recruit and the Wisconsin Miss Basketball recipient, was named the FVA Player of the Year. She averaged 27.5 points and 8.7 rebounds per game, while shooting 51 percent from the field, 87.5 percent at the free throw line (168-for-192) and made a whopping 122 3-pointers in helping the Rockets reach the WIAA state tournament.

Rounding out the first team are unanimous selections Rainey Welson and Kayla Werner of Hortonville and Kate McGinnis of Kimbelry, along with Hortonville’s Kallie Peppler, Oshkosh North’s Ava Hanson and Oshkosh West’s Paige Seckar.

Appleton East freshman Ella Sweeney, and Appleton North sophomore Tay Maass and freshman Avery Werfal were among the eight second-team selections.

Sweeney averaged 13.8 points per game while making 57 3-pointers and shooting 90 percent (55-for-61) from the free throw line for the Patriots.

Maass averaged 9.7 points and 8.6 rebounds per game, and Werfal topped North at 15.3 points per game with 60 made 3-pointers.

Appleton East’s Lilly Meulemans and Appleton North’s Shayna Williamson were honorable mention selections.

Appleton West did not have any players on the all-FVA team.

Hortonville’s A.C. Clouthier was named Coach of the Year after leading the Polar Bears to the FVA championship.
